Crabill's Hamburgers

While visiting my parents for the 4th of July holiday last week, we went to a hamburger shoppe called Crabill's located in the small town of Urbana, OH. I believe my mom first heard about it in her Southern Living magazine. Their burgers were greasy but very good.



Crabill's opened in 1927 when Forest Crabill began flipping burgers in his garage and charging only a nickel. Now 81 years later, Crabill’s resides in an old gas station with only enough seating for 8 and sells their greasy burgers for about a dollar. The original Crabill’s hamburger came with mustard and relish. Cheese was extra, of course. By the early 1990s, Crabill’s had given in to the demands of its customers and began offering ketchup.



Crabill’s is listed in the book called Hamburger America: One Man's Cross-Country Odyssey to Find the Best Burgers in the Nation, as one of the top 100 hamburger places in the U.S. Also mentioned is Zarzour’s Café here in Tennessee; we are going to try it soon.
