Bea's - ever been?

This past weekend, Suzanne & Joe and Madison, Rebecca & Alex, and Tim & I went to Bea's for Sunday lunch and so did nearly all of Rossville. Bea's is one of those places you hear about, wonder if a place like that really exists and can't help but ask yourself, "what will they think of next?"

Allow me to explain what's so unique about Bea's. As a typical southern restaurant, they serve every kind of traditional southern food: fried chicken, turnip greens, pinto beans, slaw, pickled beets, cornbread muffins, and peach cobbler. Oh, and of course, sweet tea! Sounds normal so far, right? Or at least normal in this part of the country.

But here's the best part. Bea's is like a buffet only lazier. I'm sure you are wondering, "is that possible?" Yes! And I'll tell you how. After walking in, you get seated at a large round table with food already waiting for you, which is very nice of them. Now the kicker, the food is in the center of the table on a large lazy susan! You don't even have to get up from your seat to eat all the southern food you want. I wonder if Bea’s sister was the real Susan and that's how the idea came about.

At least at a buffet-style restaurant, you burn calories going back and forth from the table to the buffet and inevitably reach the point of being so full that you don't want to get up. But at Bea’s, you don't even have to debate getting out of your seat. It's all right there in front of you, just turn the wheel. However, be careful not to the spin the susan while someone else is trying to put the sweet tea back. If you do then they will spill the tea on their Sunday clothes and not speak to you on the car ride home.
