The house was perfect for two families.

The view from every window was ideal.

We had one good day at the beach of relaxing under an umbrella, playing in the sand and floating in the ocean.

Before we left for the trip we were following the path of the oncoming hurricane but decided to take advantage of the trip since Gustav wasn’t going to hit the shore until after our departure date. Well, it didn’t work out quite as planned. We had to leave early due to a mandatory evacuation.
The evacuation was not as dramatic as one would think. Police weren't cruising the streets with sirens and loud speakers or banging on residence's doors; the event itself was rather anticlimactic and nothing more than a long line of cars as far as the eye could see. Twelve hours later having averaged about 40 miles per hour, we arrived home safe and sound.

If you are ever in Gulf Shores, I do have one restaurant to recommend, LuLu's. Go early as the wait is long but well worth it. Just follow the feet...
