We were supposed to go yesterday afternoon but it began to rain shortly before our reservation time so we rescheduled for today. This meant driving back to Hilton Head, which was not on the original vacation itinerary. However, changing our schedule around enabled us to spend a few hours at Mimi and Granddad's new house splashing around the pool and teaching Madison how to swim before heading off to kayak in the late afternoon. Today's weather was perfect for our paddling adventure so I'm glad we rescheduled. Plus, it gave us more time with Mimi and Granddad than previously planned.
Our guide, Dave, who happened to be from an area near my hometown in Ohio, took the nine of us, along with another family on a two-hour tour. After covering ourselves from head to toe in sunscreen and strapping our life jackets tight, we jumped in our kayaks and head off to sea. Dad R and Madison rode together in a double, as well as Steve and Carol, leaving the remaining five of us in singles. We'd paddle along the salt marsh for a while and then take a break while Dave told us about different creatures that we could see (various kinds of birds, oysters, crabs, etc.) At one point we even saw a dolphin.
