Poor Duchess

Our poor little Duchess . . . we had to board her for 5 days while we were away this past weekend. When we picked her up yesterday, we noticed that her bed was partly destroyed. The fabric was pulled and there were tiny holes. Clear signs she wasn’t happy and in distress. We were also returned half her food because she hadn't eaten much at all.

Then last night she fussed about getting into her crate and wouldn’t settle down once she went in there. That's not like her. She’s crate trained and hasn’t whimpered in months. I’m pretty convinced that she didn't have a good experience at the kennel and may take a day or two to come around again and be her happy, energetic little self.

Tim and I decided not to use this kennel again even though it was cheap and extremely convenient. Next time we board her, we’ll put her at a kennel out in the country that we used about a year ago, as Duchess didn’t show any signs of anxiety when we picked her up from there.

Mom, maybe she’s a country girl?!? :)
